I’m pretty sure that’s the conventional wisdom. My own position — that Gloria Jones’ original is the best, no really it is la la la I can’t hear you — is definitely more controversial.
(What else is there? There aren’t people out there saying with a straight face that Marilyn Manson’s is the best, are there? If there are, dear God I’m old.)
