And here’s the English-language version, which I always forget isn’t the original, since I heard it first, on Guatemalan radio in early 1996 and if I hadn’t had a tape in my stereo might still be vaguely wondering what that one sparkle-shiny pop song I heard that one time was. Or I might have remembered it immediately the first time I saw the Tim Buckley record Happy Sad, which still makes me think of Pizzicato Five now anyway, every time.

When I got the Internet and began systematically looking up every half-remembered anything from the previous two decades of my life, it was the hardest to track down of all the songs I’d recorded off the radio in Guatemala (even the Ace of Base megamix came more easily). That was about a decade before YouTube; even filesharing was in its infancy. I’ve had it on CD for fifteen years now; and to this day I couldn’t tell you what the other tracks on the disc are.
