what’s the book??
Two, at the moment. Pointed Roofs (1915) by Dorothy Richardson, recommended for anyone who loves L. M. Montgomery and Virginia Woolf, in that order; and Miss Hargreaves (1940) by Frank Baker, recommended for the antic, slightly melancholy taste that would lie somewhere between Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and Mistress Masham’s Repose.
(That Richardson’s works are not more widely available is criminal. I’m seriously contemplating dropping $75 on a complete set, and I can in no way afford that sort of thing.)
Although now my ILLs are starting to come in, so I’ll probably be cutting all pleasure-reading (this includes the Internet) short in order to drown in research for my EMP paper.
