jawnita:

I really actually liked LDR’s SNL gig (aside from the nervousness), didn’t think it was terrible, thought the vocal affectations were interesting and weird in a kind of art-punk way, like maybe she even self-sabotaged, just to get all you fuckers off her back. But then Chris Bosman asked me why and I was like, “Well, I actively listen to Yoko Ono, so,” and then sent him THIS video by Azita, former Scissor Girls frontwman who then embarked on a strange and incredible classic-rock career. She cannot “sing” in the Way That You Are Apparently Supposed To, but I revel in her music, the strangeness of it, and that it exists. Also, I GAVE THIS ALBUM AN EIGHT FUCKING POINT TWO!!! AND NAMECHECKED THE ORIGINAL CAST RECORDING OF “A CHORUS LINE.” It’s not my best work ever, but it makes me feel really awesome and that I was doing some subversive shit* during my stint(s) at P4K (two times, Nick Sylvester brought me back after the first time I quit when Schreiber would not run my review of Lil Kim’s La Bella Mafia because “of course we would give this a negative review” I was like YOU HAVE OBVIOUSLY NEVER LISTENED TO LIL KIM BEFORE, ALSO PEACE OUT).

SIDEBAR, Nick Sylvester has been a really ardent behind-the-scenes supporter of my writing, and I want to thank him for that publicly. Thanks Nick Sylvester. Listen to his band Mr. Dream

*Like bringing up Mariah Carey every single column because I would get emails from 90000000 white males in college every week yelling at me for this or that and telling me I’m wrong but also, could I help them get a job reviewing for P4K? FUCK ALL OF THOSE DUDES IN HELL.

IMPORTANT SHIZ.
