‘As the author discusses each area of his life,’ she wrote, ‘it becomes obvious that he doesn’t have a positive outlook in life.’ Such is the smug satisfaction of the religious. I never thought of myself as a negative person — but yes, life is dark. You lose things. You lose the people you love. You will make bad choices. You will never figure anything out. It’s important to become friends with these facts.
